Hey all -
I haven't been around much, I know. I have been really down mentally, and it just gets to a point where I don't feel I can share that kind of blackness, because most people just don't know how to cope with the revelations of it, and I don't want to burden them. Too bad I can't afford a therapist, right? And don't tell me about public health options in LA if you don't want to hear about 6-month waiting lists. Anyway.
Good news! I have work for the next 2 weeks. I'm back at the last place I temped. Now, if they just don't dump me again before the assignment is up.....believe me, I'm not leaving one iota of personal belongings there this time! Yes, I would still love to work there permanently, but I'm not getting my hopes up this time. It appears they are looking for a person who is several levels above me in education and training, who will not only do everything I'm doing, but more. Such is business life these days.
Excellent news! I won a prize! I won a $50 gift certificate to BSue's shop for leaving a comment on a certain post at her blog! Wahoooooooo! I found out when I got home from work yesterday, and immediately spent it on fun stuff. She has jewelry components in several gorgeous patinas, and I chose some in this beauuuutiful rosey coppery goldey color.
I also ordered some bail-making pliers to help form filigrees and stuff. I do have regular round nose pliers, of course, but when you use those, you get a cone shape rather than a round one. And I got some ear wires, and some head pins in that Rose Ox color. I have made a couple of pieces to submit to a local art show, and one of them used up almost all my head pins! I will show you the pieces soon.
Off to work (here's hoping I can say that a LOT more this year!)

I'm so glad your name came up, Laurel, and I'm delighted that you opted for the Rose Ox findings....these days most folks go for the dark stuff, not realizing how gorgeous this finish is. It's not your old matte copper ox AT ALL...it's more like a 50's vintage copper finish, like you find on collectable jewelry. And it looks great on all skin tones.
I am so happy this little stash can help you out, I can see how wisely you chose. Better days ahead! You have extreme talent. Extreme talent WINS!
Hey, your luck is changing. Ride with it. Keep manifesting good things. Love B'sue.
I'm so happy you won from B'Sue, Laurel. Congrats! I know it was a bright spot in your day. B'Sue's findings are so fab and I love the rose ox color too. I can't wait to see what you make with it.
Excellent post! I think you've encapsulated the mission of this blog and our challenge.
I love that you won something! And I have a TON of beads and stuff that are just sitting here, so let me know if you would like some towards your show! They need to be loved better than I am loving them now!
Don't you just love to win. And am so glad you have some work. Sending positive thoughts your way.
I am so glad to see your post and with such good news. I was starting to get a bit worried about you.
