Broke again, broke again, piggity pig.
In a nutshell: the temp job ended unexpectedly after I finished the day on Monday. Considerate, right? Not. I got a call from the agency at almost 7 pm, saying don't go back. Freaked me right out. What did I do wrong? Seemingly nothing - but they certainly could've had the courtesy to let me know when I was there so I could take my stuff (oatmeal, pens, cups, etc.) with me right then. As it is, it took me a week to get it back, what with the HR person not returning the agencies' calls. Weird. Wha' EVah.
So here I am again with not enough money to pay the rent. I am really tired of this.
But on to happier things.
Did you know that you can dye clear glass or crystal with alcohol inks? Yeppir! I got this ring in a lot of vintage broken jewelry that I bought on Ebay. It was missing one of the stones. I found one in my stash that was nearly the right size and glued it into the setting. You can't even tell which one it is, can you? As nice a ring as it was with clear stones, it was a little mainstream for my taste, so I wanted to see if I could color it. I experimented on one other little glass bead, and it worked, so I did the whole thing. Easy as proverbial pie!
I put the ring down on some waxed paper and just dribbled some Red Pepper Adirondack alcohol ink over it. Wiped up the part that dribbled onto the band with some alcohol - getting red fingers in the process - wear gloves if you do this! - and just let it dry. I wore it while washing dishes this morning, and the color didn't come off at all, but just to be on the safe side, I sprayed it with Krylon Crystal Clear to seal it. Ain't it purty?
Here is my bejeweled hand again with a bunch of new pendants that I have to photograph and list in my Etsy. I made them for the Enchanted Holiday Boutique I did last Sunday, which was a total bust for me. I made one $7 sale the whole day. Seems my stuff doesn't go that well with Sierra Madre ladies. Anyway, if you see any that you like, (pendants, that is, not Sierra Madre ladies) they're only $14 each with a silver or black neckwire, and $12 without. Just email me or leave a comment if you are interested in purchasing any of them.
Here's a look at three of them up close.
Have a great rest-of-the-weekend, everyone!
p.s. I have internet service at home again - woo-hoooo!

Aw, Laurel. Sorry to hear about your job loss. Love the experiment with your ring and how it turned out!
Nice beads for the holidays season when everyone likes to gift each other.I love the ring which looks like the bunch of roses...nice way to seal the coloring touch up.
Sounds like that wasn't the place for you when they didn't even want to return your belongings. I am sure that the right job will come along.
